Hey NG, been a while. An independent game dev here. My mates and I have released the first episode of Echoes, "Operation Stranglehold" last summer:

- http://armorgames.com/play/6451/echoes -operation-stranglehold

In the past we also made Portal: The Flash Version (mentioned in the NYT, cnet and more) a while back, and in the modding and horror game dev community we've recently released Nightmare House 2 (won 2nd place as mod of the year).

Working on the next installment in the Echoes series, we have two new open positions for artists. These positions are working by Axel Hammarback's guidance, who is the lead artist in Echoes, managing the style and animations. He took care of all(!) graphics in Echoes Operation Stranglehold, but this time he's loaded with university work and that's where you can come in and assist with these two aspects:

Job #1, Level artist - Draw the levels according to sketches. A level in Echoes can go from 1500px to 8000px. Level of detail and imagination are both very important here.

Job #2, Concept artist - Draw stills of the Echoes universe according to a certain description for ingame/commercial use. Once again imagination and thinking further into details in characters displayed in the stills are important.

You don't need any Flash or animation skills to apply, just plain art
This is not volunteer work. In return, we can offer you a spot in our team, a reasonable payment, the chance to work with the huge project that this is, and get some awesome experience and exposure.

If you have any questions / if you're interested, please contact me ido [at] wecreatestuff [[dotdotdot] com . I might miss it if you PM.
For those applying, we'll then contact you again soon with instructions requesting a small piece of art work to see how the communications between us work, and whether your style fits Echoes. Deadline for applying is around two weeks from now, end of Feb 2011

Thank you so much!
Ido

Are you an awesome artist?

Sweet. I've been working on this game for ages and I finally got to post it here. I set up ten medals, hope they get approved soon. I'm very outdated with how it all works, tbh, but implementing the code was fairly easy. The API rocks. Your medals should also appear as achievements ingame, through settings->stats.

If you're reading this because you just played the game, I should also credit Paul Komenza. This drunk Aussie is too lazy to accept my user NG here so I couldn't add him as a collaborator. Paul took care of the AWESOME story behind Echoes, really glad to have him on the team :)

So what's next? Well, we finished Echoes Act 1 for a while now, it's just we started posting it around only recently. Meanwhile we're already working on Act 2. We're taking all of the feedback you guys have on the concept, and making sure Act 2 contains improved gameplay, and not just a plain sequel.

Echoes: Operation Stranglehold (Act 1) is up

Yet again, haven't updated this place in a while. So unfortunately this year I was not lucky enough to spend awesome time with you guys @ comic con. Hopefully I'll make up for it with a surprise appearance in a meetup... when's the next one at London? p;

Right, so the extra time I got this summer break allowed me and the rest of the team to invest more time in Echoes. Feels like the development's going much quicker now. I'm sick of promising dates so I won't, all I can say is we're seeing the light but there's still some digging to do. Poetic.

For now, we've put up the website. Awesome! Hell yeah, thanks to Axel. And friends at SmartWD. And Paul, our writer.

Hey! 'Haven't posted in a while, but let me tell ya, dev's going great. Here's some more artwork for you gentlemen and ladies to have fun with (wink wink).

Sketches by Susanna W, tracing by Axel Hammarback. All follows Paul's storyline.
For more art go over to Axel's post.

Just a reminder, the game's address is echoes.wcs .

Yo!

For some time now I've been working on a new Flash strategy - shooter game, Echoes. I'm working on this with Axel, he's a great artist to work with, check his stuff out!

I attached a character from the game, Alan Strickman, by Axel. It's pretty solid as a picture, but you should see this badass old man in motion. More stuff on Axel's post!

Oh also, the game's miniwebsite address is echoes.wecreatestuff.com .

Howdy! I'm very excited to say that our very own Portal: The Flash Version was nominated at the Zeebys 2008 for Best Web Game of 2007!
It's funny, I was just told about that by a friend just days ago, and the event appears to be on the 24th. It appears my congrats email just got lost or something.

But wait, it doesn't end here. They're taking votes till July 11. So I really need you guys' help. Go there, and on the ninth category (Web Game), vote for us!

And in any case, you NGers have no idea how grateful me and Hen are for your support. It may seem like we fell asleep, but we're still in your ng, watching your problems of the future, today.
